Judy Chan and Chan Hok-fung on Monday were elected in the Legco election's Hong Kong Island West constituency.

The DAB's Chan Hok-fung received 30,543 votes, while Judy Chan from the New People's Party was not far behind, with 30,033.

Formerly a lawmaker in the Election Committee constituency, Judy Chan said she hopes voters will trust her as much as they did her mentor, Regina Ip.

"I want to thank all the voters for their support because this is not an easy battle. It's actually a very, very challenging battle," she told reporters.

"Since the day Regina decided to step down and pass it on to me, we have been talking to many friends, many voters, especially Regina's fans. Hopefully, they will trust that I'm capable of take Regina's seat and serve the Hong Kong people as we always have."

The Federation of Trade Unions' Aron Kwok, who formerly represented the labour sector in Legco, lost his re-election bid with a third-place finish, winning 25,643 votes.

"I feel a little bit sorry to our supporters because they really put a lot of time and effort to support us, but I couldn't get the seat, so maybe it will push me harder to work better in the future," Kwok said.
