Bill Tang took one of the seats for Kowloon East by a landslide, while newcomer Cheung Pui-kong won the constituency's remaining spot in the Legco 2025 election.
The FTU's Tang comfortably retained his seat with 53,675 votes – second-highest among all vote-getters behind Christine Fong.
Cheung, who's a DAB district councillor, gained 29,116 votes, just 282 more than rival Renee Leung. He said he did not expect to win.
"Throughout this campaign, I was full of confidence but also I just stayed calm," he told reporters.
Cheung added he still has a lot to learn from partymate Frankie Ngan, the constituency's current lawmaker, who failed to retain his seat after receiving 24,250 votes.
Ngan called on Kowloon East residents to support Cheung.
"The DAB's total support is reduced in Kowloon East. I'm disappointed about the result, of course, but I hope that all the Kowloon East residents and DAB supporters in Kowloon East can support DAB and also support Cheung Pui-kong."
