Outbound travel slows retails sales over Xmas Listen
A retail sector lawmaker and a bar industry representative have attributed slow sales during the Christmas break to people travelling out of the SAR and a lack of incoming tourists to make up for it. As Elvis Yu reports, they said more needed to be done to bring in international visitors:

Caution over handling fish, following two deaths Listen
A specialist in infectious diseases, Joseph Tsang, is calling on people to be extra careful when handling freshwater seafood, saying two people have died after an outbreak of invasive Group B Streptococcus infections. The Centre for Health Protection has reported eight such cases in the New Territories East Cluster over the past few months, with most patients having bought freshwater fish from a Sheung Shui market before falling ill. Dr Tsang told Vanessa Cheng that people should not touch freshwater fish with their bare hands and should avoid eating raw or undercooked fish:
Study shows AI helps detect bowel cancer Listen
Chinese University researchers have found that artificial intelligence can significantly improve junior doctors' ability to detect bowel cancer by helping them locate abnormal cells in the colon. 22 doctors performed colonoscopies on more than 700 patients in their study, with half of the procedures assisted by AI. Professor Philip Chiu, who led the research, said using AI increases the chances of finding adenomas - which could potentially develop into colorectal cancer - by 13 percent. He spoke to Elvis Yu:

SAR officials say they are working with the families of a Hongkonger killed in a head-on car crash in northern Guangdong province on Christmas Day, as well as two Hong Kong residents injured in the incident. Jacqueline Guico reports:
