There are fresh calls to expand the Individual Visit Scheme, allowing residents of more mainland cities to travel to Hong Kong on their own. A tourism trade representative pointed out that there were 26 cities across the border that were directly-linked to Hong Kong via the express rail but not part of the travel scheme. As well as expanding the Individual Visit Scheme, the DAB Party has suggested bringing back the multiple entry permit for mainland visitors. It allows Shenzhen residents to visit Hong Kong multiple times on a single visa. DAB lawmaker Holden Chow also told Samantha Butler that mainland visitors prefer going to scenic spots, so the city should develop its 'green' tourism, as well as entice travellers from the Middle East:

A water sports and life-saving expert has advised people to stay away from the shoreline when they visit seaside areas, saying unexpected tidal surges could easily wash them into the sea. The comment follows the drowning of two siblings who fell into waters off Shek O on Sunday. Police believed they were taking photos near the sea when the accident happened. Eric Li, a licensed coach with over 20 years of experience in water sports, told Natale Ching that if anyone was swept into the water, they should remain calm and call for help when possible:

A Macau journalist says rumours that horse racing would soon be scrapped were circulating last year. Joao Pinto, the Portuguese news and programming controller for local broadcaster TDM, says the events were never profitable in Macau, and were originally encouraged as a way to support the development of the enclave. The Consumer Council says people should wipe off their lipstick before eating or drinking after most of the 30 products it tested were found to contain substances that could be harmful. It said 24 samples contained a substance called mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH), which has been shown in animal tests to damage the liver and spleen. Five other lipstick tested were found to contain traces of another substance, mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH), which may be carcinogenic. The council's chief executive, Gilly Wong, spoke to Damon Pang about their findings:

The Consumer Council also says more than half of 40 probiotic supplements it studied were not properly labelled, saying officials need to regulate the products to protect consumer safety. It said 60 percent of the intestinal health supplements did not properly indicate the species, bacteria or their relevant amount and in one case, no information was given at all. Customs officials say they have seized more than 400 kilograms of cocaine "skilfully" disguised as white wine by a drug syndicate. The drugs were hidden in hundreds of boxes of drinks in a container that arrived at Kwai Chung terminal from Brazil last month. Vanessa Cheng reports:
