A 30-year-old man has died after taking part in the Hong Kong Marathon. It was the first time the mega sporting event was staged, after the city emerged from the Covid pandemic. The Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates said it was saddened by the death and expressed condolences to the man's family. It reminded runners to pay attention to their physical conditions and take appropriate post-race recovery measures. Natale Ching reports:

An environmentalist says it is reasonable for the government to delay its waste charging scheme to allow the public more time to prepare. On Friday, authorities announced the pay-as-you-throw scheme would instead just be rolled out at government offices from April 1, and delayed by four months for everyone else. Yau Wing-kwong, founder of the Environmental Association, says in the past few weeks, their community-run recycling centres have seen a "massive increase" as people begin clearing out their homes. He told Janice Wong that he believed the public, despite creating a lot of noise, was ready for household waste charging:

Infectious diseases expert Ivan Hung has called on the public, especially the elderly and the immunocompromised, to take every possible measure against the coronavirus. The Society for Community Organisation has called on the government to do more to protect the rights of those living in subdivided flats. The group made the call after a survey it conducted found more than 30 percent of such tenants had their rents increased over the past two years, and more than 60 percent said their landlords overcharged them for electricity. It said better enforcement of laws introduced in January 2022 was needed to restrict landlords from arbitrarily raising rents or overcharging for utilities.
