Five people die after barge crashes into bridge Listen
Five people have been killed after a barge collided with a bridge over a waterway in the Pearl River Delta near Guangzhou city. State media say the collision caused part of the bridge to break off, plunging vehicles into the water. Jacqueline Guico reports:

Youth survey shows renewed hope for future Listen
A youth survey shows respondents had a positive outlook over Hong Kong and the mainland, but not with themselves. The Federation of Youth Groups interviewed more than 500 people aged between 15 and 39 in December. It found the level of social participation had declined, and just under half were unhappy with their English proficiency. Social worker and a supervisor with the federation, Christa Cheung, suggested programmes to allow Hong Kong youth to explore volunteer opportunities on the mainland to re-engage with society:
Group proposes reducing highest-tier tax rate Listen
The Taxation Institute of Hong Kong says the government should remove property-cooling measures in phases, rather than in one go. There have been calls for the financial secretary to scrap the so-called 'spicy measures' in next week's budget, amid falling prices and low transactions. The institute's tax policy committee co-chairwoman, Anita Tsang, said removing the measures completely could cause the market to overheat. She spoke to Chloe Feng about other measures the authorities should consider to help ease people's tax burden:

Users of ChatGPT have been gleefully posting nonsensical responses from the AI chatbot, after it started spouting gibberish on Tuesday night for about 16 hours.
