The head of the Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention has called on people to show more care to the elderly due to rising suicide rates among senior citizens. Professor Paul Yip from the University of Hong Kong said the number of elderly folk taking their lives had been rising in recent years, with the effects of isolation during the pandemic a contributing factor. A town planner says redeveloping the city's famous Flower Market site will be beneficial in the long run. Authorities have announced the plan as part of a wider renewal of the Yau Tsim Mong area. It will involve six plots, including a football pitch on Boundary Street and will be turned into a municipal complex with an underground car park, and a park with a canal. Lawmaker Andrew Lam, who was a former executive director with the Urban Renewal Authority, told Janice Wong that many florists would welcome planned improvements in traffic flow, and car parking and loading space:

Police and Immigration officers have arrested 205 people in two anti-triad and anti-crime operations that took place in Hong Kong last week. Several suspects have already been charged. Kelly Yu reports:

Financial Secretary Paul Chan says Hong Kong can deepen its role as a cross-border supply chain management centre. Writing in his weekly Sunday blog, he said many of the thousands of medium-sized manufacturing companies in the Pearl River and Yangtze River deltas were looking to move some of their operations off-shore. Mainland electric-vehicle maker Xpeng says it will launch a cheaper brand next month, aimed at young people. The company said it would successively introduce models under the brand, which it did not name. Robert Kemp reports:

China has attacked a bill going through the US Congress that could ultimately see TikTok banned in the US. The bill was passed by the House of Representatives last week and would give TikTok's parent company six months to divest from the firm or face a ban on the app. But RTHK's Washington correspondent, Barry Wood, says China's complaints that the forced sale would violate free and fair competition have been branded hypocritical, given its own ban on social media apps, such as Facebook and WhatsApp. He told Carol Musgrave more about US lawmakers' concerns:
