Broken fire doors found at scene of fatal fire  Listenfacebook
Firefighters investigating Wednesday's deadly blaze at New Lucky House in Jordan say they found broken fire doors in the building which could have resulted in heavy smoke spreading. Five people died in the fire, and another 40 were injured, with some of those who escaped complaining it was difficult to see because of the smoke. Violet Wong reports:

Firefighters say they have largely put out a blaze at a Tin Shui Wai construction site after it burnt for nearly two days. Officers said they had to overcome many difficulties. Kelly Yu reports:

The government admits that some of the participants in its waste-charging trial scheme are experiencing difficulties. As Kelly Yu reports, some lawmakers warned of "chaos" if the citywide plan went ahead as scheduled in August:
Green group calls for greater producer responsibility over waste  Listenfacebook
A green group says the government's planned pay-as-you-throw scheme does not encourage companies to cut packaging. Greenpeace recruited 45 households last month for a seven-day waste charging experiment. It found almost half of the household waste was disposable tableware and packaging. Greenpeace campaigner Leanne Tam said in some cases, consumers did not have the choice to choose recyclable packaging. She told Samantha Butler that the government should accelerate producer responsibility schemes to help people reduce waste:

A Vietnamese property tycoon has been sentenced to death in one of the country's biggest fraud cases. Truong My Lan was accused of swindling billions of US dollars from the Saigon Commercial Bank over a decade, along with more than 80 others. Azam Khan reports:

Hong Kong will host eight competitions as a co-host of next year's National Games. Some of the events will be held at the soon-to-be-completed Kai Tak Sports Park. The 15th National Games will take place in November next year. Damon Pang reports:
FIBA 3x3 qualifiers take place at Victoria Park  Listenfacebook
Hong Kong is hosting the 3x3 basketball Olympic qualifying tournament for the first time. It takes place from Friday until Sunday at Victoria Park. Matthew Li, media director of the local organising committee, says the tournament combines both sport and street fair into a single event to highlight the original street basketball culture in America. It is a three-a-side game on a half-sized basketball court with one net. Li told Hailey Yip that the event would promote the sport in the SAR, especially as it is only the second-time the event has featured at the Olympics:
'Non-stop action' expected at 3x3 games  Listenfacebook
The International Basketball Federation, FIBA, says it wants to boost the appeal of basketball among a younger and more urban audience through its 3x3 events. Maximilian Glas, the 3x3 Head of Operations, says the group is hosting a professional worldwide tour with over 50 events on the men's side and over 30 events on the women's side. He told Ben Tse that spectators can expect non-stop action:
