Labour officials say they are updating guidelines on the heat stress warning system so that it is linked with the Hong Kong Observatory's top hot weather warning - which is issued when temperatures reach 35 degrees Celsius. A paediatrician says the city is experiencing a longer influenza season than normal and flu cases have been rising recently, instead of tapering off. Dr Mike Kwan from the University of Hong Kong's Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine says this is a global phenomenon, after people's immunity against viruses dropped while health measures were imposed during the Covid pandemic. Dr Kwan said Hong Kong is facing a tridemic of Covid, Flu, and a respiratory infection known as RSV. He told Janice Wong that people should keep up to date with their Covid and flu jabs:

The founder of a mental health NGO says an 'alarming' number of social workers are experiencing burnout as they face more challenges, such as an increasing workload and lack of support. Dr Chou Wah-shan from Dreams Possible says a survey its NGO did with the University of Hong Kong showed that 93 percent of the 255 interviewed social workers faced a moderate level of work-related stress, with 68 percent exhibiting signs of depression. But he told Samantha Butler that worsening mental health was a community-wide issue:

A trading strategist says more positive economic data is needed to sustain Monday's rally in the markets. The Hang Seng Index entered a technical bull market - defined as 20 percent more than a recent low - when it breached the 18,000 mark yesterday. Tesla shares shot up nearly 15 percent after receiving a key security clearance from China for smart cars. It reportedly cleared regulatory hurdles to deploy its driver-assistance system in the world's largest auto market. CEO, Elon Musk, on an unannounced visit to Beijing, reportedly discussed the software and permission to transfer driving data overseas. Scotland's first minister, Humza Yousaf, has announced he's resigning after 13 months in office. He had been facing no-confidence votes after ending a partnership with the Scottish Green Party. Yousaf said he would continue as first minister until a successor was elected. Thousands of people from Myanmar who do not want to get drafted are finding safe haven in Cambodia, as the country's military plans to increase its conscription target. Visa restrictions for Myanmese going to Cambodia are also more lax than for other neighbouring countries.
