Golden Week arrivals within expectations Listen
The government says the number of visitors from across the border during the mainland's Golden Week holiday should inject over HK$2 billion into Hong Kong's economy. The five-day break wrapped up on Sunday. Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung, says the total number of mainland tourists coming in should reach the estimated 800,000 mark. Southwest monsoon brings warmest April on record Listen
The Observatory says Hong Kong had the warmest April on record this year, with the hottest day reaching almost 32 degrees Celsius. Leung Wing-mo, a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Meteorological Society, said the warmer than usual weather was because the southwest monsoon arrived earlier than usual. He told Hailey Yip that vulnerable people should take care to avoid heat stress or exhaustion with rising temperatures over the summer:
People flock to Cheung Chau Climbing Carnival Listen
A climbing carnival has taken place in Cheung Chau, ahead of the island's traditional bun-scrambling competition next week, on Buddha's Birthday. Hailey Yip reports on some of those who tested their climbing skills:
Xi Jinping arrives in Paris for Europe tour Listen
President Xi Jinping has arrived in Paris at the start of a European tour that will also see him in Serbia and Hungary. The president hailed China's ties with France as an international model. Xi is due to meet his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, as well as the European Commission chief, Ursula von der Leyen, on Monday. Jacqueline Guico reports:
UK's Conservatives get a drubbing in local polls Listen
Britain's Conservatives have been crushed in local elections across England and Wales, losing control of 10 local councils and nearly 500 councillors. Millions of voters in England cast ballots on Thursday. The results cement the opposition Labour Party's commanding lead over the governing Conservatives, ahead of Britain's general election later this year. RTHK's UK correspondent Gavin Grey told Janice Wong that time was running out for the Conservatives:
Berkshire Hathaway event spotlights Buffett’s successor Listen
Warren Buffett has assured shareholders that his successors at Berkshire Hathaway are ready for the job and also paid tribute to his late business partner, Charlie Munger. Before the annual shareholder meeting, Berkshire announced first-quarter results, including a 39 percent jump in operating profit to a record US$11.2 billion. Sean Kennedy reports:

Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics maker and the biggest assembler of Apple's iPhone, says it expects a rise in second-quarter revenue this year as it reported record sales for the month of April. Tony Sabine reports:
Looted gold treasures displayed in Ghana after 150 years Listen
