Hong Kong has launched a campaign to promote good hospitality in the SAR and provide better services to visitors. As Chloe Feng reports, top officials hope to make courtesy and good services a priority in all sectors after noting a few cases of tourists being treated rudely:

A hospitality expert has welcomed a government initiative to encourage everyone to be polite to tourists, saying it is not just for people in the industry to give visitors a warm welcome. Dennis Wong from the Vocational Training Council told Elvis Yu that he hoped the drive would train people to adopt a better attitude and improve services for tourists:

Representatives from the catering, hotel and retail industry have urged the government to implement new measures, including the use of AI, to boost consumption and tourism. As Hailey Yip reports, they are also urging these sectors to be more involved with the SAR's mega events:

Financial Secretary Paul Chan says Hong Kong's economy will continue to grow despite the challenges caused by geopolitical tensions and changes in consumption patterns. Hong Kong's stock market has started the month with a bang, making up for the losses seen last week. The Hang Seng Index gained nearly 1.8 percent to 18,403 on the first trading session for June, while the Tech Index also saw healthy gains of 2.5 percent. The rallies followed a private report showing that China's services sector rose more than expected last month. Dickie Wong, Executive Director of Research at Kingston Securities, said the gains came on the back of various factors and warned that the benchmark could still be volatile in the near future. After seven phases of voting over more than two months, ballots will finally be counted in India's marathon general election on Tuesday. Exit polls point to a big win for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Hindu-nationalist BJP. Election authorities in the country say almost 650 million votes have been cast, a record for any election, anywhere.
