The Federation of Trade Unions has urged the government to regulate online car-hailing platforms and require their drivers to obtain permits. FTU lawmaker Michael Luk said taxi drivers have struggled to stay afloat in recent years due to competition with illegal cabbies. On Friday, transport officials will brief lawmakers on the results of a study on ride-hailing services. Luk told Kelly Yu that licensing these services won't hurt the taxi trade.

Lawmaker Gary Zhang says he's pleased to see that government proposals on regulating online car-hailing services also included plans to review the supply and demand of point-to-point transport. He told Carol Musgrave that the document submitted to the Legislative Council has been more comprehensive than previously thought.

Public housing tenants are facing a 10 percent rise in their rent. Housing chief Winnie Ho says the proposed increases would be affordable for tenants, as Anne Chan reports.
