A clear legal definition of originality is crucial to protecting AI-generated works, according to an IT expert. The government has launched a two-month public consultation to improve the Copyright Ordinance to safeguard the development of artificial intelligence technology. Francis Fong, chairman of the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation, also stressed the need for regular updates to the ordinance because of rapid AI advances. He told Charlie Chun that the government should work with industry leaders when making changes to the legislation:

A secondary school vice-principal says a slight drop in the percentage of primary six pupils getting their top secondary school choice is due to parents being "aggressive". Seventy-nine percent secured their first choice at both the discretionary stage and via central allocation - down slightly from 80 percent last year and the lowest since 2020. Through the central allocation system alone, 62 percent of primary six pupils got their top pick. The preserved body of an American mountaineer, who vanished more than two decades ago while scaling a snowy peak in Peru, has been found after being exposed by climate change-induced ice melt.
