Hong Kong has posted stronger second-quarter GDP growth. The economy grew 3.3 percent in the three months ending June, up from a 2.8 percent increase in the first period. Foreign business leaders have said the new permit to head up north has provided easier access to the mainland. Alfred Buchner, a former committee member of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce says he has not travelled to the mainland for seven years. He was among those collecting his new mainland travel card on Wednesday. He said the permit provided a lot of "encouragement" to visit the mainland. World Breastfeeding Week is officially celebrated on August 1-7 every year. The Israeli government says it is on "extremely high alert" following the killing of a senior Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran and of a commander of the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia in Beirut. Haniyeh was visiting the Iranian capital for the inauguration of the new President. Israel has not admitted to killing Haniyeh but acknowledged targeting a senior Hezbollah commander, who it blamed for a rocket attack that killed 12 young people.
