Paris City Hall has pledged that people will be swimming in the River Seine by the foot of the Eiffel Tower next year. This is despite high bacteria levels that delayed Olympic triathlon events and left some residents and tourists hesitant over diving in. Hailey Yip reports from Paris:

The Society for Community Organisation has called on the government to improve support for caregivers after a mother and son were found dead in their Kwun Tong flat. It is understood the 60-year-old man died from an accident in the flat, while the 82-year-old bedridden woman died from a lack of care. Elvis Yu reports:
Call for registry of 'high-risk' carers  Listenfacebook
A scholar specialising in caregiving has called for the wider use of technology in the homes of high-risk carers. Bobo Lau, an assistant professor at the department of counselling and psychology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, said the tragedy could have been avoided if a fall detection system had been installed. She also told Elvis Yu that there should be a registry to identify high-risk caregivers:

An anti-tobacco group has warned that the sale of illegal cigarettes may increase. According to the Long-term Tobacco Policy Concern Group, cigarette smugglers have been offering free samples to people on the street. Natasha Ho reports:

The convenor of the Long-term Policy Concern group says the Tobacco and Alcohol Control Office (TACO) should crack down harder on illicit cigarettes, known colloquially here as rat cigarettes. He spoke to Natasha Ho:
'No need for more virtual banks in HK'  Listenfacebook
Lawmaker Johnny Ng says it is appropriate to maintain the number of virtual banks in Hong Kong at eight and not bring more competition to the market. A recent report from the Monetary Authority showed the eight banks had yet to earn a profit since they began operations four years ago. Mr Ng said this was not an "odd situation" as overseas virtual banks had taken between six to eight years before turning a profit. Around 2.2 million people use virtual banks, which accounts for only 0.3 percent of total savings among all banks in the SAR. Ng spoke to Janice Lo:

Welfare secretary Chris Sun says performing arts allows the elderly to forget their age and showcase their talents. He was commenting as more than 100 performers, aged 55 to 86, get ready for the SAR’s first Creative Ageing Arts Festival next month - organised by charity, Arts Options. The United Nations says the dissolution of Thailand's main opposition Move Forward Party is "deeply troubling" and seriously impacts fundamental freedoms. Thailand's top court voted unanimously on Wednesday to dissolve the MFP and ban its executive board members from politics for 10 years. The MFP took first place in a general election last year after pledging to reform Thailand's strict royal defamation law. RTHK's Bangkok correspondent Larry Jagan told Annemarie Evans that the party was seen as anti-monarchy:

The authorities in Austria have revealed more details about the alleged plot to target a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna. They said a 19-year-old Islamic State sympathiser had confessed to planning an attack designed to kill many people at the event. His alleged 17-year-old accomplice - who was detained in the area of the stadium - has so far refused to talk. The intelligence caused organisers to cancel the pop star's three shows in the Austrian capital - to the disappointment of thousands of fans, many of whom had already travelled to the city.
