Day 16 of the Olympic Games in Paris saw the last medals awarded. Both China and the United States struck gold, leaving the two countries with 40 each. But the US found themselves on top of the medals table, with more silvers overall. Japan finished third while hosts France ended their most successful Olympic campaign in fifth place. The SAR finished 37th. Hailey Yip and Kelly Yu report on the final day of action from Paris:

The Paris Olympic Games have now formally ended with a spectacular closing ceremony in the French capital at the Stade de France. French swimming star, Leon Marchand extinguished the Olympic cauldron. Hollywood star Tom Cruise leapt from the roof of the stadium and whisked away the Olympic flag on a motorcycle, where he boarded a plane and sky-dived into Los Angeles. Hong Kong’s Olympic delegation is not the only team representing the SAR in Paris; the city’s rope skipping performance squad is also in the French capital to push for their sport to be included in future Olympic Games. And they are doing this by amping up the atmosphere at the Place de la Concorde, which has become the heart of urban sports at the Paris games. Hailey Yip reports from the French capital:

Financial Secretary Paul Chan says Hong Kong should integrate further with the country's development and contribute to its modernisation.
