A health professional says more resources are needed to tackle cases of osteoporosis in men. Cheung Ching-lung, president of the Osteoporosis Society of Hong Kong, says hip fractures have been decreasing over the past 10 years in women, but have stayed the same in men. He said many people incorrectly believed that the disease strikes only women. He says with the city's high life expectancy and ageing population, he expects about 27,000 people a day will suffer from hip fractures by 2050, which will pose a huge burden on the medical system. He told Janice Wong that the mortality rate from hip fractures was higher than some types of cancer:

The Hospital Authority says patients will be able to pick up their medication at community pharmacies from next week. Last year, the HA launched a medication delivery service, allowing patients to receive their prescriptions at home or at their workplace. It is now expanding the service and allowing patients to collect their drugs at over 100 community pharmacies under Mannings and Watsons from September 10.
