Harris concedes defeat in US presidential election Listen
US vice president Kamala Harris has conceded defeat in America’s presidential election. She telephoned former President Donald Trump to congratulate him on his substantial victory. She then addressed supporters on Wednesday afternoon in Washington after abandoning plans to speak to them the previous night as the results came in. For Trump, his return to office is one of the most stunning political comebacks the United States has ever witnessed. Simon Marks reports from Washington.

Republicans take Senate majority Listen
Republicans have taken control of the US Senate and are fighting to win a majority in the House of Representatives, which would produce a full sweep of GOP power in Congress alongside president-elect Donald Trump in the White House. The party currently has 205 seats in the lower house compared with 186 for the Democrats while it has now secured 52 seats in the Senate. Frank Yung reports.

Analyst says US has less leverage over China Listen
China-US relations are in the spotlight with Trump returning to the White House. One analyst expects a rocky road ahead with disputes over trade and tariffs dominating the agenda between the two superpowers. But Einar Tangen, a senior fellow at the Taihe Institute and chairman of Asia Narratives, also told Ben Tse that the impact on Sino-US ties would not be as great as eight years ago, when the US had a lot more leverage over China.
