President Xi meets UK PM at G20 summit Listen
President Xi Jinping has warned that the world faces "turbulence," as G20 leaders met in Brazil, two months before Donald Trump returns to the White House. World leaders are meeting for two days to try to jump-start stalled UN climate talks and overcome their differences on wars in the Middle East and Ukraine, and diffuse emerging trade tensions. President Xi also met the prime ministers of Britain and Australia on the sidelines of the summit. Jamie Clarke reports:
China and UK hail President Xi and PM Starmer meeting Listen
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hailed the importance of a "strong UK-China relationship" after his meeting with President Xi Jinping at the G20 summit. It was the first bilateral meeting between a British prime minister and the president since February 2018. RTHK's UK correspondent Gavin Grey told Carol Musgrave the meeting was a good start, but there was a long road ahead for ties to normalise.
UN chief urges G20 to take action on climate change Listen
Speaking before the summit, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Gutterres urged G20 members to use their economic and diplomatic clout to tackle key global problems, including climate change.
New tolls for Tai Lam Tunnel Listen
In Hong Kong, sources say the government plans to charge cheaper time-varying tolls for the Tai Lam Tunnel when it takes control of the tunnel in May. The tolling system would be similar to the ones for the three cross-harbour tunnels brought in last year. Damon Pang has more:

A kick-off ceremony for the 29th Ocean Park Conservation Day was held on Monday, under the theme "Safeguarding Wild Giant Pandas and Their Habitats". It aimed to raise public awareness about the challenges faced by wild giant pandas and also conservation methods. Judy Wan, a conservation community and partnerships manager of the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, told Janice Wong the effort involves a combination of education and helping farmers manage their livestock so they don't infringe on the pandas' habitats.

Major Internet conference kicks off in Wuzhen Listen
Leading scholars, tech companies and government officials from around the world are gathering in Wuzhen in eastern China for the 2024 World Internet Conference which kicks off on Tuesday. Launched in 2014, this year's summit will focus on artificial intelligence and its impact on the economy and humanity. The four-day event will also see the establishment of a special committee on AI and an international digital training institute. IT sector lawmaker Duncan Chiu will give a speech on Hong Kong's AI development during the conference. He told Kelly Yu about what to expect at this year's Wuzhen summit.
New port a significant milestone for Sino-Peru ties Listen
President Xi Jinping's recent visit to Peru has fostered closer ties between China and the South American country. During his stay, the president attended the Apec leaders' summit and inaugurated the opening of Chancay port, a megaport project that connects Asia and Latin America. He also oversaw the signing of an updated free trade pact between Beijing and Lima. All that is further boosting ties between China and Peru, which are already major trading partners.
